Excellent gyros!!! Quick & friendly service. It's a very small place, seating is outside, the weather is getting progressively better!!! Please go!!! It's a very good experience.
Can't recommend this place enough!! We come as often as we can. Their supreme gyro with a Greek salad on the side is my ultimate order. Also don't forget the spanakopita! They have incredible service and are so quick! We have turned so many friends on to this place. Best gyros in town!
I used to come here in my teenage years and this place was amazing. Moved to Florida and came back to visit and it's still 10/10 A+ 5stars The food is amazing with great portions! Good to see Biden hasn't fucked over George's Famous Gyros! Great customer service as well!
George's Famous Gyros isn't here to impress you with lavish decor or upscale dining--it doesn't need to. This is the kind of place that feels like a hidden roadside gem somewhere off a sun-baked road in Greece, the kind of spot where you stop by chance, only to find you've stumbled upon something special. It's a no-frills takeout joint, with a few tables for those brave enough to linger in the heat. Yes, it's hot inside--hot enough that you wonder if they've imported the climate straight from the Mediterranean just to complete the experience. The gyros, though, are the real star of the show. Plentiful, generously packed with well-seasoned meat, and dripping with tzatziki sauce like it's trying to remind you that indulgence is the name of the game here. These aren't dainty wraps meant to leave you politely full--they're hearty, messy, and unapologetically satisfying. And then there are the fries. Not just any fries--these are battered beauties, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and quite possibly the best fries I've ever had. They don't just accompany the meal; they demand attention, their golden crunch nearly outshining the gyros themselves. Service is what you'd expect from a takeout spot--quick, efficient, and no-nonsense. It's the kind of place where you don't linger for the ambiance or small talk with the staff; you come here, order your food, and get out with your meal in hand, ready to devour it wherever you find a cooler spot to sit. It's simple, it's straightforward, and it works. George's Famous Gyros might not have the trappings of a high-end restaurant, but it doesn't need them. What it lacks in fancy decor, it makes up for with food that's generous, flavorful, and satisfying in all the right ways. If you're looking for an honest meal that delivers on taste without the fuss, George's is worth the visit--just make sure to grab a side of those fries.
Food is always delicious! The gyros are generous portions. The falafel burger was good. Simple falafel patty crispy outside flavorful and moist inside topped with spinach and roasted red pepper balsamic glaze and azjar (roasted red pepper sauce). The sweet potato waffle fries are worth the little extra and spanakopita for the win! Cheer's George's!!
Stopped on a Saturday around noon, it was not real busy, however, read many reviews and wanted to adopt my own opinion. My wife ordered the Gyro Supreme, I ordered the Original Gyro. Wow were those huge, loaded with meat. We came from Montana and are used to adding Cayenne Pepper to our Gyros, after lunch the wonderful Cashier took a photo of it, I asked her to get rid of the salt & pepper on the table and set down Cayenne Pepper. Hopefully they will, it really adds to Gyro Meat!! Trust us, we know Gyro's....this place is awesome, now live outside of Yuma, Az; and we will be back......just in case, my wife will have the Cayenne Pepper in her purse. Also, ordered two Originals to go, put them in our cooler, covered with Ice, we enjoyed them on Sunday afternoon. When you find a good thing, enjoy it and keep doing it!
Insane proportions here. You won't go hungry. Honestly getting one gyro could feed two people. We tried the classic lamb gyro 10/10 and the chicken supreme 8/10. Both were fantastic. Food is authentic and delicious. Only the smallest criticisms, food took a little while to be made, so just order ahead. It's worth it.
I've been coming to George's since I moved to the valley in the late 90s. It never disappoints. In fact it is probably my favorite local Greek joint. The gyro meat is to die for. If I'm trying to eat healthy I'll get the Greek salad topped with gyro meat. I I'm throwing my diet out the window I'll treat myself to a Gyro sandwich. Either way you can't go wrong!
Every time never misses! The best in AZ definitely worth a try. Fast and friendly service
Oh man. I'm a little confused because I've definitely reviewed George's before. Today, was a new day. I tried a menu item that I have not yet tried. Move over veggie burger and make way for the Falafel burger! Woah! I devoured it. It was absolutely delicious. Red bells, tzatziki, Falafel patty, spinach, tomatoes and maybe there was another item or two but it was absolutely on point. Oh look, I seek yo be adding photos from a time I thought I'd reviewed. This place is so good and for me, it feels like a local staple (even if some may disagree).
